Itzel Lopez-Hinojosa Receives Enterprise Holdings Scholarship to Attend Washington University in St. Louis

Itzel Lopez-Hinojosa, daughter of Maria Elena Lopez and Jose Luis Lopez of Aurora, Ill. (60506), was recently named an Enterprise Holdings Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis. Lopez-Hinojosa, a 2013 graduate of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Ill., will be a freshman at the university when the fall semester begins Aug. 27.

Lopez-Hinojosa helped facilitate the leadership and development of sophomores at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. She was also an avid volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and the treasurer of her school’s National Honor Society.

Lopez-Hinojosa's scholarship is made possible by Enterprise Holdings, operating the Alamo Rent A Car, National Car Rental, as well as the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brands. Enterprise Holdings has provided $50 million to Washington University over the past 12 years to help the university "develop the best and brightest minds from all segments of our society."

Scholars are selected on the basis of academic merit, leadership skills and a commitment to community service. The Enterprise Holdings Scholars Program makes it possible for approximately 60 to 80 exceptionally talented students from across America to attend Washington University each year.

The Enterprise Holdings scholars are recognized at a dinner in their honor during the school year.

Jack C. Taylor gave Washington University an additional $25 million in March 2011 for undergraduate scholarships on behalf of the company. The gift has been added to the existing endowed scholarship fund that Enterprise Holdings established in 2001.
