Shea Gouldd Receives Enterprise Holdings Scholarship to Attend Washington University in St. Louis

Shea Gouldd, daughter of Bill Gouldd and Lesley Marlo of Boynton Beach, Fla. (33435), was recently named an Enterprise Holdings Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis. Gouldd, a 2013 graduate of Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton, Fla., will be a freshman at the university when the fall semester begins Aug. 27.

Gouldd was the founder and president of her school’s Entrepreneur Club. Gouldd has won numerous awards for her entrepreneurial spirit and her ownership of a popular bakery in Delray Beach. Most recently, she was named the 2013 Young Entrepreneur of the Year by The National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation (YEF). Gouldd's scholarship is made possible by Enterprise Holdings, operating the Alamo Rent A Car, National Car Rental, as well as the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brands. Enterprise Holdings has provided $50 million to Washington University over the past 12 years to help the university "develop the best and brightest minds from all segments of our society."

Scholars are selected on the basis of academic merit, leadership skills and a commitment to community service. The Enterprise Holdings Scholars Program makes it possible for approximately 60 to 80 exceptionally talented students from across America to attend Washington University each year.

The Enterprise Holdings scholars are recognized at a dinner in their honor during the school year.

Jack C. Taylor gave Washington University an additional $25 million in March 2011 for undergraduate scholarships on behalf of the company. The gift has been added to the existing endowed scholarship fund that Enterprise Holdings established in 2001.
